My family and I rented the second week in August, Sea Cloisters 2 302a.

I would give not stars if possible. Used the vacation rental to rent our beach front condo for this week. Arrived to find a giant construction site as our view. We have to walk 1/4 mile to get to the ocean (this is ocean front but bc the construction has the beach blocked off), giant machinery beeping all night long, big light plants going until all hours of the night and the constant sound of an air horn to signal people that they crossed the construction fence. This has not been relaxing at all. Surfside realty did not inform us at all that this could be a possibility during our planned trip. I called today but was told the "manager" would have to call me back about any discount for our stay. I am beyond upset at this point. The condo was as promised but this is inexcusable on the realty company for not giving us a heads up.

We have been to Surfside Beach several times since my kids were little and we love it there but this time our rental experience was not pleasant.

They taped an envelope to my door on the last day I was there (very personal) with a form letter apologizing for the “inconvenience” and a meager refund that didn’t come close to making up for the way this affected our vacation.

Clearly the staff needs training in customer service and how to handle and follow through on maintenance issues. If handled differently this could have been a simple issue and not escalated the way it did.

A simple maintenance issue turned into a five day ordeal causing stress and inconvenience to my family and I. The staff is unresponsive and does not return calls and I felt that the people at the front desk are incompetent and patronizing. I tried all week to speak to a manager by phone and by going to the office to no avail. When I asked why it would take so long to have this matter resolved I was told by a person in their Office (to paraphrase) “This is the South, expectations should be lower” I kid you not. That is what I was told! On my last visit to the office after 4 days of this I was frustrated and raising my voice to see a manager (who is never available). The staff actually had the nerve to call the local police because I was causing a “ruckus” as the police officer described it…….. You can’t make this stuff up.

4-6 check in was a joke and misleading. Sent several emails with issues at property with no response to even attempt to correct the issues. House was dirty upon arrival, linen package didn't include what we needed, and half our week we can't access the beach in front of our beach front house. Several attempts to reach them with no response!!!!! Obviously they don't care about their guests. Disappointing when there are a multiple places to choose to do your business and you choose this one. The reviews are spot on! Take the warning folks!

After talking with the manager they made it right. Yes I was upset about not knowing about the construction but they promised they would make it right and they did. Promptly and respectfully. ***

I sent an email to the Manager and to the COO of Surfside Realty detailing what happened in case they were not aware of everything that transpired and to get their explanation but never received a reply.

Stayed in Summit #3 condo. Beautifully furnished 4-bedroom right on the beach. See a beautiful sunrise every morning from the private deck or inside at the breakfast table. Have dinner overlooking the ocean. Very open and comfortable. Has to be one of the nicest condo's at Surfside Beach.

Incompetent management. Paid full price for an oceanfront house only to find a view of a construction zone (beach nourishment). Company should have been proactive in notifying renters affected. We were unable to relocate to another handicap accessible oceanfront property at last minute and were told we would be compensated if we stayed at the property we originally rented. Now the manager won't return my calls and still no compensation.

Update...spoke with someone on phone who said a manager would contact me. 5 days later I am still waiting for that call. My family left early.

Where do I start? There was a large rusty pipe spanning the length of the beach and erosion repair taking place that we were never told about. I understand it was not the fault of Surfside Realty that this was taking place but they should have informed us of this before our arrival. I placed a call to management to ask about that with no call back from him, but that was not my biggest issue with them.
